March Madness is in Arizona for the LPGA
x

Which swing? Which Player? What fundamental ? What fun!

The LPGA is in Arizona for two weeks, March 11 through 24, and then onto our first major of the year, The Nabisco Championship in Palm Springs.

Here are some of my picks of the chics who are strutting their sticks for SHOPPING……well maybe a little tooooo cliché……..NOT.

  • Swing Path

Ashli Bunch.   She has a pure path. Easy to see that both sides of her swing are in the same track. She is still learning how to score under pressure, but if she has the mental grit to complement her superb swing mechanics she will be a force on tour. Observe her from a down the line position.

Beth Daniel.   Hall of Fame member with over 20 years of tour life who rededicated herself to the game a year ago. It shows in the return of her wide and strong swing path. Observe her from a face on position.

  • Weight Shift / Rotation

Donna Andrews.   Her power is in her legs. She is quite unique in women’s golf for her hip rotation is quite restricted. Her strength in her lower body allows her upper body to continue to turn against the resistance of her hips. This creates unbelievable torque and spring to wip through the ball.

Meg Mallon.    A traditional women’s weight shift. Allows her hips to rotate fully both sides of her swing. Ms Meg has a bit of a struggle with her weight. Yep, lots of men and women do. It is important that a larger frame allows the body to flow and use the mass to wack the ball a country mile. So let the swing Go. .o o o o o oooooooo . . . and enjoy!

  • Tempo

Karrie Webb.    The constant unhurried and deliberate sense of swinging the club in harmony to her body speed is incredible. I have yet to see her swing tempo change. Now that is amazing. Don’t most swings get a little hitchy, quick and quirky when you "‘reeeeallly want this" shot? Feast your eyes in this swing tempo guys.

  •  Putting Stroke

Annika Sorenstam    Se Ri Pak    Any player in the top ten on the money list can putt; and also the players near the top of the leader board for the week. Watch for the smoothness and swing speed of the great putters. They are very deliberate in aim, yet their putting swing is free of tension and flows very rhythmically. Go to the putting green on Tuesday of tournament week; see the latest putters and putting toys to enhance the stroke. It’s fun to listen to the pros' comments about the latest putting equipment.

  • Raw Power

Marisa Baena.    She is 5' 2" and maybe 110 pounds. She hits it 280. I played with her in Tucson at the Welch's/Circle-K Championship last year and was totally blown away by her ability to generate club head speed. She winds up her little body like a top and unleashes it with a set of super supple wrists snapping through the ball. Plus, she is as cute as a bug with lots of personality on the course.

Laura Davies.   She is fun to watch. She hits the ball from her toes. Wild! Laura is a great competitor; definitely wants to win but very jovial about the whole process.

  • Golf Course Management

Annika Sorenstam.  So neat and tidy in her game, it disguises her brilliant golf strategies. Watch her placements of her golf shots off the tee and onto the green.

  •  Personalities

Dottie Pepper   Helen Alfredson.   If you want a few new moves to coax the ball back into the fairway; then these girls have plenty to show you.

  • Snappy Dress

A few of the Swedes . . . These girls are not afraid to wear short, tight, and whatever else they want.

Grace Park.  Fashionably elegant.

Michelle McGann.  The lady and her hats. And her lipstick is never smudged.

  • Rookies

They are all fun to watch. There are 26 rookies this year. Who do think will be the next star?

For my friends who are not in sunny Arizona, watch the gals on the TV in March. Click to www.lpga.com, find the tour schedule to locate when the tour is in or near your city. Just do it, get out to see these women play golf!  Don’t forget your sun 'brella, binoculars and your golf seat. See you behind the ropes.

Till next time,
Your favorite golf teacher/coach

Golf Instruction - Use a Video Lesson
x

Experience my Video Check Up and compare your swing to the pros.

Yesterday during a golf lesson, video revealed to a woman who I was working with for the first time, that her swing path was superb.  When comparing her golf swing to LPGA pros in my library, Ashli Bunch and Liselotte Neumann, her glorious path shone out of my computer monitor.  This visual feedback of her golf swing became a confidence builder that a million words could not have  accomplished.

click here:  video golf lesson, how I use video as a tool in golf instruction.

My instruction brochure can be seen at my website, download it if you wish.  I believe in personalized training, there is an instruction option for everyone. Please email any of your questions about golf instruction.

"You must keep the golf swing as simple as you can.  That's why I'm so adamant about the fundamentals.  Too many of us complicate our golf swings with involved theories, when good golf is actually based on a few solid principles."        Kathy Whitworth, LPGA Hall of Fame
