  Summer Golf
x Summer golf…. It’s just plain ol’ sweaty.

Golfers, pro and amateur, sweat in the heat of the USGA major championship season while we sweat from the comfort of our air conditioned homes watching the pros hit some really awesome and then ah!!    goofy golf  shots that make for great conversation at the club or the office water cooler on Monday.

Here are a few tips on keeping  cool this summer golf season.
Going on a golf vacation this year? Spend the majority of your warm up time practicing in the short game area.

Why? You want to bet that the greens will be a different speed than at your home course and the rough will make your ball react differently when the ball rolls on the green. Maybe the greens are quicker; so instead of using a wedge for a pitch, try a sand wedge. The few more degrees on the SW will make the pitch shot run-time just like the run-time at home.

Having trouble staying focused in the heat?
The heat makes your thinking slide into a comfortable subconscious dull or dreamy state.

It is like being in the 'zone' except in reverse. When you are in the zone, you slide into a comfortable subconscious crisp and alive state that is required for smart club and shot selection.

Try these tricks:

  • Summer pre-shot routine.
    • Enjoy a cool quick drink of water
    • Keep your head cool. Dab your temples with your cold towel before you get out of the cart.
    • Staring at the golf bag, nothing clicking… Blink a few times to wake up your brain for GOLF….
    • Body feeling heavy and tired? Play 9 holes and watch the last 9 holes of the US Open on the television … …, keep cool.

  • Summer golf lessons
    • Book them early in the morning!

I am staying in Arizona during the summer and I'm training the cool way. We will stay cool under the umbrellas with towels, cold water and when needed blinking together to re-energize our golf focus.

See you on the lesson tee.

It means you are in control of the golf course, rather than vice versa."
